Legend Wind arrow is indicating the wind speed and direction.   Direction Wind arrows point towards the station in the direction from which the wind is blowing. In the example it is blowing from the northeast. Speed The barbs on the wind arrow indicate wind speed. Each short barb represents 5 knots and each long barb represents 10 knots. Pennants represent wind speeds of 50 knots. The absence of a wind arrow means that the winds are calm. In the example it has a speed of 15 knots. To convert wind speed please use this converter.
