Picture of the month October 2009

Picture taken at Steenokkerzeel on September 27 2009 at 0757 CET.

Autumn is the season were mist and fog starts to become important in calm weather periods and of course all related to the longer nights with stronger cooling effect on or from the ground. Sometimes the thickness of this cool and humid layer is not more than a couple dozen meters. When seen from above, a layer of cloud can be seen, whereas on the ground horizontal visibility is remarkable reduced, but the above (clear) sky can still be visible.

This picture shows some thin fog patches where the top of threes, the church or even a crane reaches above the fog. It started to dissipate by the rising sun and some nice effects could be revealed by this time-lapse.
