26/09/1996 Location: BRU/EBBR Photo: Skystef Description: ...the Belgian refused a license to conduct these flights as the airframe was a converted military variant of the famous Douglas DC-3. Instead it was painted in the outfit of the Belgian Air Force with a fake registration "OT-CWG" to celebrate their 50 years anniversary, here shown after it came out the paintshop in September 1996 with the official operator being Air Dakota. The Belgian CAA gave a temporary permission to conduct some flights, however a definite one was not granted so the airframe ended up doing static display's only. As this was a loss making adventure the airframe was after a long period of storage in a military hangar at Melsbroek sold to a French owner and it was on March 23 2002 ferried from Brussels to Paris (ORY). |
