late 50's Location: OST/EBOS Photo: collection Skystef Description: this second hand Spitfire (ex Belgian Air Force "SM-43") came on May 5 1956 in the register for Cogea Nouvelle, established on January 14 1946 as Compagnie Générale d'Exploitation Aéronautique (shortened to Cogea) based at Keerbergen airfield but after a reorganistation on November 30 1954 its name changed to Cogea Nouvelle whereby its base switched to Ostend airport. Here seen such in a metal livery with their logo and titles on the fuselage. It participated in the movie "The Longest Day" in 1961. On April 27 1964 it was cancelled from the register and went a day later to England for J. Crewdson / Film Aviation Services Ltd being re-registered "G-ASSB". |
