Description: this A340 of Sabena arrived as "F-GNIB" in full colors at Brussels on June 25 1996 after spending the previous three years with Air France + a brief lease to Lufthansa. The following day it came in the Belgian register, here depicted in the first (of two) color scheme(s) with additional "Flying together with Swissair" titles.

Description: on August 29 1998, it was victim of a landing accident at Brussels Airport. Credit to Mike Parsons, who was the one to witness and capture the event on film and was so kind to provide the material for showing on this site. Arrival on runway 25L of flight SN542 from New York, nothing seemed wrong.

Description: airframe was steered by pilots to the right, into grass to avoid possible firework by further scraping.

Description: after the necessary repairs during November 1998, it was the first airframe being rolled out in the new color scheme. Between March and May 2000 it wore additional dark blue "Khalifa" titles promoting a possible sale to the Libyan carrier, but this action was blocked by the Belgian government. On June 23 2000 it was stored at Chateauroux (all white and no titles).

Description: between August 17 and September 15 2000, it was briefly leased to AOM French Airlines in white colors but retaining the Belgian registration.

Description: on November 7 2000 it became again operational for Sabena in (the old) white colors (without billboard titles), till its demise on November 7 2001.
