06/1986 Location: BRU/EBBR Photo: collection Skystef Description: on April 7 1981 its Cofa did expire and was laid up at Brussels Airport, here seen such five years later in a rather sad state. On January 27 1988 it was cancelled from the register and handed over to the Sabena Oldtimers for possible restoration into flying status but this never materialized. Instead it was March 2 1995 onwards used as instructional airframe by De Katholieke Hogeschool Brugge-Oostende (KHBO) which was formed earlier that year from five catholic high schools in the northwest of West Vlaanderen. In 2007 it was transferred to "Vlaams luchtvaartopleidingscentrum" (VLOC) based at Ostend airport. In September 2018 it was stored outside after it had done its job for a generation of students. On January 21 2021 it arrived at Namur airport to be preserved by the Belgian Aviation Preservation Association (BAPA) in Sabena colors. |
