History of Belgian B707 & B720

The 707 jetliner was quite popular in Belgium with 32 airframes on the register. Major carrier was Sabena with 16 machines, together with sister Sobelair 19, but when taking into account the lease of airframe OO-PSI from the mysterious company CER even 20. Other big player was TEA with 7 B707/720s of which 6 effective were operational. A few short lived cargo carriers like Young Cargo, BIAC and AMI Cargo tried to enter the market but were quite unsuccesfull. Remaining single passenger airframes came from DAT with the so called "Van Gaever Mistake" and Abelag/Air Belgium. On December 20 1959, OO-SJA was the first 707 machine touching Belgian soil and 33 years later this episode was closed when AMI Cargo went bankrupt on which OO-CDE left in silence.
